I'm looking to add a converter to my 97 WS6. the car is currently all stock with the exception of 3.73's and a flowmaster. Doesn't even have a K&N yet. I will definitley be adding headers and a Thunder Racing computer tune. They recommend the Vigilante. We all know the price of those. I do have friends with PTC's that run low 12's and never had a problem but Thunder Racing says that the Vig is the best. I respect their opinion. Just wanted to get other ones.

I'd say without a doubt a Pro Yank in your case.

I have a Vigilante 3200 and it performs great! So, you can't go wrong with a Vigilante converter (any stall RPM). However, the other brands mentioned are also top-notch converters (Yank, Edge, Etc.). You can expect 3 to 6 tenths with a 3200 converter, providing you have the traction off the line.

Handyman has his 60ft. listed which says a lot for Edge, maybe it will help if I add mine. Best is 1.614 3400stall 3.73s 27" tire, street shocks, these are BIG cars to be 60ing like that.

Guys, thanks for all the advice. I went to Neal Chance's site and it appears he only deals with high end racing converters. I still sent in a request form to see what he recommends but haven't heard back from him yet. I see no advice on the PTC converters. Is it because you don't recommend using them or just never had one? They only run around $400 so this attractive for obvious reasons. But the old saying "you get what you pay for" is in my mind. Again, thanks for the advice and I'll check out all those recommended.

well, i was recommended to use a yank by several people on here, including lloyd elliot, so i plan on running a yank SS3600

 

I run a PTC in my drag car and its a great converter and im thinking about putting one in my WS6. They have great customer service and you cant beat the price...
