Best Catback for under 400?

Just looking at some options. I just can't see myself shelling out 800 for a borla. Do you see the same gains with other catbacks?

Hooker catback and a cutout is your best bet for any real gains

The catback sounds good but is quiet enough to not be too annoying, and the cutout for when u want to be annoying and get a little more umph.

Hooker Aerochamber! Ive has one on my last 2 LT1 cars! I love em and they sounds so good! Come with dual/dual chrome tips and for our cars the price pops in at 290$ from Summit. Grab a cut out if you think you need it for another 30$. Hey your under 400$ installed!

Sound wise, my preference is SLP Loudmouth if you have stock manifolds and cats, and Hooker if you have headers / no cats. I liked my loudmouth sounds best, but it was waaaaaaay to annoying with the headers.

I like my magnaflow. You should just listen to some on ls1sounds.com to hear what you like. This is the magnaflow on my stock LT1 http://www.imagestation.com/video/vi...084595602&dl=1

How much louder is Magnaflow vs. Hooker? (percentage-wise) My TA is 100%stock and have heard that both Hooker and Magnaflow sound "a little" louder than the stock exhaust.

I LOVE the "sound" clips of the Hooker, but if it's just a "smidgen" louder than stock, I'm going to have to look for something else.

Re: Best Catback for under 400?

With just the catback, the Magnaflow and Hooker are a noticeable bit louder than stock at idle and slow cruise (plus they sound much meaner), but not what I would truly call loud. But at WOT they are significantly louder than stock. With headers and a gutted cat my Magnaflow yells pretty good and has a louder aggressive sounding idle than it did with just the catback.

I don't know how people stand the cutouts, they are just too loud and most frankly sound my *** in my experience...

The magnaflow is made out of better tubing than the Hooker (I believe it's stainless vs aluminized) but is a little more. I think you can still get it for around $320ish shipped from one of those companies selling them on ebay if you inquire about buying it offline from ebay without the "free" cat they bundle in the auctions...

Chalk up another vote for the Hooker/cutout combination. I would definitely buy one again if I had to.

Thanks for all your input guys, I think the hooker/cutout option may be for me.

SLP's 2 on the left would be my choice. The Loudmouth is nice, though.
