Best CAI for 97 LT1????

Pondering how im gonna spend my tax returns, ive been looking at all sorts of toys for the Z28.
Ive seen there are a few CAI's on the market, ive been told the Moroso is the best.
How do the SLP & K&N unit's stack up???

They're all the same, with maybe a 2-5hp difference between the best and worst.

Everybody will reply that what they have on their car is the best, but they all do the same thing, and they all do it well.

haha, yeah, seriously just get the one that looks the best to you. I liked the way the SLP one looks way more than the K&N, so I got that one (i also got it cheap).

I love my G2.. Got it cheap... Looks stock but is noticeable better than stock. The big pro is many classes of racing will elt you use it as a stock intake If you do go g2 buy it used like I did for real cheap....

I use the G2.. Bought it used. I like the stock look of it.... You can easily rub off the g2 decal and it looks stock.. It is legal in many racing circuits as a stock item.... It can be bought used from 50-100 dollars. It flows more than stock, but not as good as say the FIPK or Super Tube.

If you compete in scca or stock eliminator I would get one.

Check the vendor's list for retailers. I can't remember who carries the AS&M version.

www.ligenfelter.com for the Super Tube

G2 is probobly has the least performance enhancing ability. It's basically a stock airbox.

My best advice is to look on eBay for whatever you can find at the best price. Get a used one, because they aren't wear items unless they were abused (i.e someone threw it on the ground, stepped on it etc..).

G2 is not that bad.. If you hold it to the stock one you can clearly see how it is better than stock, but not as good as a supertube or fipk. The g2 does havea nitch though and it fills it nicely.. Plus it does not look as gaudy as a fipk...

Like they say pick up one used and you'll be happy, that is what I did....

I had the KnN on my 94 and the Moroso on my 96. The Moroso was harder to install and it always rubbed on the hood. But it flowed, i noticed that. But i think i will try the SLP or the AS&M. Ebay has the 49.99 kits. ITs a polished tube with a Cone Filter.

I couldn't get the Moroso to fit at all. Maybe I'm stupid. The SLP went in fairly easily. I like it because you don't have to crawl under the car to get at the filters. The whole intake comes out in maybe 5 minutes. Just something to think about.
