Best 58mm TB??
Re: Best 58mm TB??
I got a BBK for cheap but will be swapping it out for a TPIS 58mm which I feel is the best of the best.

Re: Best 58mm TB??
I've had some problems with my Holley - issues with the throttle stop bar not fixed tight to the shaft, excessive gap between blades and bores. I have friends who have had problems with the BBK - common problem was a whistle from an idle air passage partially blocked by casting flash. The TPIS was recommended as a replacement by the shop that built my engine, but I never bought one. Some work solved the Holley problems.
Plus it polishes up nicely.....

I love my AS&M.
I have fixed a lot of Holley issues for guys. Biggest problem I have seen on everyone of those fixed, blades go past 100% and wipe out tps and sticking blades. All aftermarket ones I have seen have issues with idle air passages but easy to fix.

AS&M is the overall flagship "best" 58mm, but for the money the TPiS is hard to beat.
I ran an AS&M and it was flawless...none of the problems that plague other brands like whistling IAC passages, blade gap, sticking, etc - plus it is completely rebuildable with servicable bearings.

Re: Best 58mm TB??
The AS&M is a work of art. You can tell the right amount of time and effort went into it's design and production. Throttle feel is excellent. Never had experience with Holley or TPIS, but they look pretty good as well.
Those cast ones [Edelbrock, BBK, etc] Aren't that nice really, I have a cast 52mm on my daily and it looks cheap to me. If you need a 58mm it means you motor has the right parts, if that's the case there is not reason to skimp on the throttle body.

Re: Best 58mm TB??
I run a Professional Products 58mm and it works nicely and it was cheap i think i paid 150 shipped. Im going to do the IAC drill mod to smooth out my counts but thats something a Holley, AS&M, and TPiS could have issues with depending on the combination.
One friend runs a Edelbrock 58mm on his mild cammed setup and bolted on and had zero issues at all.
Another friend of mine has a BBK and had the whistling effect goin on but worked out fine for his setup.
IMO they are all very similar it just depends how much you want to fork out and if want the bling factor of a polished billet unit. I plan on upgrading to a Holley if i find on the cheap one for appearance purposes.
