Angry belt for underdrives...small problem...

Hi folks. I have ANOTHER problem with the serp. belt for my dad. He has a '97 TA WS6 with the underdrive crank (sandwich) and overdrive alt. pulley (bought them from Dennis at IRS.) Anyhow, last time I posted on "what size", someone replied that I needed a 59" belt, and I guess I got one. Well, here it is time to change that sucker again and I so I went to pick up a gates 59" belt at O'Reilly's. They gave me PN: K060594 It was just a hair longer than the squealing belt we took off. So, we went BACK to the parts house and asked for the next smallest size, which is PN: K060578, which is almost 2 inches shorter. Is this right? Does anyone know the correct PN? I didn't get that belt either because I thought it would be too small. Help, PLEASE!!!

I originally bought an underdrive pulley with overdrive alternator pulley but could never get a belt to fit. I went with just the crank pulley and found one.
Manufacturers make different size belts, for example Goodyear makes some sizes that Gates does not. It took 4 trips to the parts store to find one that fit and it was a Goodyear Gatorback.

I just changed mine today and I use a 59" DAYCO POLYCOG, got it at Federated, I think. It took a while to find this belt as the Autozones and Advances do not carry this size in my area.

Only thing is I wish I could find a 58.5" as the old belt is fine but stretched enough to queal, especially in the hotter weather and even with the brand new belt the tensioner is close to the end.

Part# 5060590

Try this place:

http://www.beltsforanything.com/

I e-mailed them and they have 57.5", 58.0", and 58.5" belts available for $30. What they actually do is take an 8-rib belt and peel off two ribs. I'll be buying mine from them soon...

I had to end up using a 4-Rib belt for my set up. If you choose to go this route make sure the belt is lined up right on all pulleys.
