Belt Tensioner Problem
Belt Tensioner Problem
I found a bolt sitting in the Driveway under my Camaro. So I did some looking around and it was the bolt from the Belt Tensioner. I got under the car and put the bolt back in and fired up the Camaro. I smelled something burning and traced the smoke back to the Belt Tensioner. Did I over tighten the Tensioner? When I went to loosen the bolt it was really hot.
Most all parts house's carry them and vary in price. The replacements come with plastic wheels which I did'nt care for. I found one with the metal wheel at O'reilly and of course it cost more but it looked like the original.
I took the belt off and the pulley was rubbing on the metal surface. I adjusted it so it works for now. I dont like how I can't tighten the bolt up all the way with out it rubbing. Looks like it's time for a new one.
