been having troubles..
been having troubles..
with the opti spark on my lt1.. this isn't the first time but hate it because it's such an expensive repair. Was wondering if anyone knew how, or knows a link to instructions on converting the opti spark to a coil pack per cylinder style ignition.
Also, recently I have been having starting problems.. I believe it is due to the fuel delivery / bank fire style starting the lt1 has. A couple weeks ago I realized the control side of one of the fuel injectors had been short to ground. I found (or thought) I found the problem with a metal wire harness retaining clip had pierced through the harness and seemed to have made contact with one of the wires. I tore the harness apart to find no evidence of a wire being damaged.. I taped the wires together and the harness was taped over it. Everything seemed to work fine after that.
I'm not having any problems with fuel economy (when it was grounded I went through a quarter tank of gas to go 10 miles). But recently it has been giving me troubles on start up (extended crank). This morning I noticed that there was a dead zone in the key on to key/engine start. The battery power would completely die off in that zone, but it seems to be intermittent. However, I don't believe this to be a problem with the PASS key system. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or any pointers on where to focus in on for trouble wires, whether it be somewhere in the engine side of the harness, or if I have to tear the dash / steering column apart to find a trouble wire.

Re: been having troubles..
As for the ignition switch, I believe it is that as well. Was talking to my teacher during my auto tech class about it and he also believes it to be the ignition switch. - thanks for the input
