Beehive springs

So ive been looking into some new springs. I just got a new set of Lloyd heads with 612 springs and im toying with the idea of beehive springs. I have a 306 cam and i want to spin to 7k rpm. My valvetrain is ready to handle it, but im not sure about the springs. Beehive springs look like a good alternative to double springs and TI retainers which gets expensive real fast.

Anyone have/like beehive springs for LT1s ? Where is a good place to find these?

Thanks,
Stu

Re: Beehive springs

I have seen a few people on here using them and they seem to be happy with them. Get in touch with Bret Bauer (SStrokerAce) he really likes them and I'm sure that he could hook you up with a set.

Re: Beehive springs

My buddy is installing a set (comp 918s) right now into his 93 Formula along with a cc306. My roommate who works the comp cams tech line recommended them to him. I plan on going with a custom XE grind that he has recommended and he recommended the 918s for me also.

Re: Beehive springs

I would also suggest that you get in touch with Bret Bauer (SStrokerAce).
He can also recommend a valve spring seat that will work, especially if you
still have stock valve spring pockets.

I have the 26915s installed and they seem to be working great. I used the
Comp 795-16 retainers, 614-16 (+.050) locks and a .062" thick spring seat.
My installed height was 1.745" which will be good for .600" lift with a .060"
safety margin. Also do a search on the word "beehive" and you will find lots
of information.

Re: Beehive springs

beehives are bad ***. the shape makes the valve angle opening and closing straighter than a normal style spring. beehives will allow for some impresive lift too.

Re: Beehive springs

would the 26918s be able to handle 7k rpm with a cc306? what is the deal with the spring seat? Will the stock seat work for these?

Re: Beehive springs

the stock seat works with these springs. you should not have any problems reving that high with the 306 cam.
