Bearing squeak problem

I think the bearing on my air cond. compressor clutch is going. I have a 95 T/A . It squeaks pretty loud till the engine warms up then it goes away. How much of a job is this if I take it on myself. Can I just relube the bearing somehow or do i need to buy the whole clutch ***'y. Am I looking @ a lot of work if I do it myself? Thanks a lot. Larry

Re: Bearing squeak problem

Belt squealing is a common problem, usually fixed by replacing the belt. One way to check is to buy a can of belt dressing; spray a small amount onto the belt and see if the noise goes away. This is NOT a fix; just a tool to verify it's the belt and not a bearing. If the noise goes away, replace the belt. I like the Goodyear Gatorback belts.

Re: Bearing squeak problem

Thanks for your resp. guy. I rep. the belt and I still have the noise. When I put on the A/C the noise increases. The noise goes away after 5 or 10 min. of running. A piece of gas line hose says it's the A/C clutch bearing.
