Battery Voltage way down

OKay, Im driving around tonite, everything is going fine. I park went to my friends for about an hour and parked the car. I went out to get some food, the car started up fine. Just as im about to park it at the restaurant, i glance down at the battery guage and it is way down, almost all the way to the left. Fortunatley i was parking right next to my friends car, so i turned it off thinking i could jump it if it was the battery. after about half an hour, i go to try to start it up, or jump it... it fired right up no problem... so im driving home... after about 15 minutes the dash lights up and says ABS INOP... and the batter guage is still very low. I am assuming its the alternator. For a while, battery guage would dip a little when i turned electrical things on in the car. SO assuming it is the alternator, how much is it going to cost me to replace? Im getting sick of this car, it seems like every other weeks its something else going wrong. Any suggestions on what else it might be?

Don't assume anything without doing some testing. If a battery is bad it doesn't matter what you charge it with, it will not take a charge. Take the battery to have it tested. Once you have a known good battery in the car. Check the alternator by using a voltmeter across the battery. With the engine running, the voltage should be well above 13 volts.

While your doing all this, I suggest you clean the 2 grounds to the engine and the frame and also the positive cluster on the passenger fender.

I would suspect alternator, too.
