having a weird problem

my car doesnt start unless i jump it and the battery gauge at a bit under 1/2
i will drive my car after i get it started for a bit then go home shut it off then after a little bit i try starting it again...i thought it was the alternator but now i am leaning for toward the battery becuase the battery is from walmart and its not a good one either...i have the receipt so i got a new battery and i cant figure out what the deal is

 

.....you didn't finish the story: but if you (were) going to say that the new battery makes no differece, then I'd say you have cable problems.

 

haha yeah i kept getting lost but yeah the positive battery cable probably needs replacing now that i think about it cuz the power wire that goes to the alternator looks like it has been tampered with...do you think that it could be a problem like if i was cut and someone taped it back together?
