Bang...then SES Light.

Bang...then SES Light.
Does anyone know what would cause a bang (like running over something) while driving in 6th at about 65 or 70 mph? I looked in the rearview, nothing.....looked at instrument cluster....SES Light was on and shutting the car off and restarting it doesn't help. Any thoughts????
