Ball Bearing

Ball Bearing

Im ready to start puting on my main caps and in this book i got says there shoudl be a ball bearing that goes in the block under the last main cap where the oil pump goes. Is it nessacary to have this in cause i can't find mine?

According to the HP book rebuilding the LT1; if you leave it out. you will loose oil pressure and have an oil leak at the rear cap...

It's a .473" steel ball. You can get one from GM or from a ball bearing manufacturer (Yellow Pages?).

It could be a 'cup' type plug (similar to freeze plug), of the correct dia., as well.

Yes! It plugs the connecting passage of the unfiltered to filtered circuits.
