Question balancer off by 15 degrees .. Vibration ?

I rechecked my position of my harmonic balancer w/ #1 @TDC and I'm off by about 15 degrees from having the arrow @12:00 .Would that cause a vibration in the 4000 - 5000 rpm range . ( the balancer does have wieghts)

I think you will need to experiment to get an accurate answer to your question. Can you just reinstall the hub to correct it 15*?

Thanks for the reply... I'm going to do that just to eliminate that aspect to see if that will correct the problem. I did a gear install, cloyes, and street twin install all basically at the same time and I've got a slight vibration I never had before.

The LT1 is in fact externally balanced. The flywheel is the neutralizing force. The harmonic balancer is neutral so I doubt that will help. I would look at the clutch that is most likely the cause of your vibration. You may have to experiment with the pressure plate clock in relation to the flywheel. I am not familiar with the street twin to even know if that is possible, also you might give McCloud a call to see if it installs any certain way in particular. Hope that helps a little.

I've heard that if your balancer has no wieghts then the position really does'nt matter as far as causing vibration, but if it does it must be positioned exactly as before . correct me if I'm wrong

Myth I have heard of some cars having some weight on the balancer although I have never seen one. I do know that they all were positioned with the hub pointer if you will at 12 o'clock with #1 at TDC. So if your is only 15 degrees away from that I highly doubt that would cause an imbalance if you happen to have the weighted type. If it was 45 90 or even 180 out I might could see it being a problem otherwise I doubt your pulley is the culprit. But installing it correctly certainly can't hurt anything and it would take it off the list of possibles. Hope you have some luck I sure hope you don't have to yank the tranny back out.

cef97ws6, you maybe correct. I would still advise that he put the pointer to 12 o'clock at #1 TDC for future reference.

Thanks for the replies guys I'm going to put the pointer @ 12:00 w / #1 @ TDC to see if that helps , and go from there. I've already replaced u-joints/ made sure the drive shaft was positioned right., checked the tranny mount. The only thing left is to yank the tranny, and verify the shims on the StreetTwin.
