I installed the ZO6 conversion in my SS myself. If you want to take a drive down 95, id do i for you, but thats a long drive. Its really not all that hard. Have you bought the kit yet?? if not i would really recommend that you get the ZO6/C5 conversion. It uses a stiffer caliper, larger pad, thicker rotor, and has a lot more pad options. the track kit is a good upgrade though.

You can easily do it yourself in an afternoon. You will need a sawzall with a few spare blades and its not a bad idea to have an electric grinder too. You put the car on jacks, remove the front wheels and stock brakes, use the sawzall to trim off part of the steering knuckle (keep it oiled as you cut or you'll go through more blades), clean up the cut with a grinder if you want to, and bolt on the Baer kit (the Track kit requires 17" wheels) and bleed them.

You will need to trim off the steering knuckle and 17" rims. I took mine to my buddy @ a dealership and their brake guy did it, reluctantly. Said it would have cost about 300 bucks.. I dunno. they did it for free.. :-) mu haha

Buy some cutting oil and you won't use up any blades. I didn't wreck any blades 'after' I started using it when my Baer kit went in.

I don't believe that 17s are absolutely necessary. Someone on this board was able to squeeze the track kit into their 16 inch shooter (which is what I plan to do within the next year or so).

instructions for the C5/ZO6 intall can be found here:

photos are from when I did it 2 yrs ago, basic instructions for the track kit would be the same. The key is having good blades in the reciprocating saw.

17" rims are a must if you're installing the Baer Track Kit with 13" rotors. Not all 17" rims have the same ID; Baer has a webpage that will allow you to print out a "brake profile" to check your rim size. My Enkei Winn 17" rim ID is too small for a C5 setup; but just barely cleared (0.1") the Baer 13" Track Kit.

Whoops... It's the Sport kit w/ 12" rotors that someone was able to squeeze into their stock 16" rims. My mistake.

Yeah, I ran the Sport kit with stock wheels. They fit fine.

I have the Baer track kit installed and it's great, however replacement rotors are very expensive. I'd go with the C5 upgrade, almost as good and cheaper rotors.
BTW, get plain rotors, no cross drilling, they'll crack at the track.
If your not going to the track don't bother to upgrade just get better pads and spend your money elsewhere.
