Bad Wheel Bearing???

While going straight of turning my rear drivers side wheel squeaks and does not stop until I hit the brakes. I checked to see if the caliper was hitting the rotor and it's not. Brake pads are clean and the still have 90% pad left on them. The squeak definitely is coming from the wheel area and not the gears. I'm not to familiar with the rear axel. Are there bearings right at the hub that can squeak if they go bad? How easy is it to replace them? Could it be something else? Thanks.

I doubt its a bearing. They usaually grind or howl when they are bad. The squeak is probably coming from the caliper bracket as Mine did the same thing. I took it apart and you could see the rub mark. I just cleaned up the contact area and put a little grease on the bracket where it contacts the caliper. It went away.

I defenetely had the same problem... The squeakies were so bad it sounded like my bed when my g/f is here

My mechanic discovered the brake pad rubbin. He grinded off just a little bit of the low pad alarm or whatever that metal sheet is called. The one that makes noise when your pads are wore out.

He then put a little grease on the edges of the Pads.. Squeaky sound was gone for about a month. Then slowly came back. Only this time I wasnt gona go cheap. I bought I new set of rear disc Brakes Rotors and that fixed my problem.

My Rear rotors were warped and I knew exactly who did that. My ex rode the car with the parking brake on... came home with the cars rear end smoking. Thank god the air-head is gone from my life now.

Why dont you have your Rotors checked? They maybe warped.
