im telling ya whatever my problem is,its BAD. i stomped the car yesterday and it barked the tires twice in first gear!!! its like i stomped it and let off and stomped it again. it will snap your neck its so severe

 

I just replaced mine... sounds like you need a new one, if your up around 70K+ odds are it could be toasted. Damn thing is expensive!... if your waterpump leak(s) then your opti is probably toasted. if you replaced the plugs and wires i can't see what else could be the problem, other than the opti, since it regulates when the plugs fire.... hope you have some spare cash around, ur gonna need it.

 

Yep. Mine bit the dust at just over 69,000 mi. If you need an opti order it from Jason Cromer. He sells the 95+ vented optis for 195 plus 8 bucks shipping. That's the cheapest you'll find my friend.

 

i had one installed about 10,000 miles ago could it have possibly been installed wrong (cracked or something)? i guess i'll just do this one myself im gonna look at it in the dark tonight just to make sure im not arching to anything.

i wish i could explain what it does exactly,like when i hit the nitrous the first the other day it backfired through the intake and blew my boot all to hell!!! oh well, i'll try one thing at a time. thanks for the info guys

When did it start backfiring/missing?

 

its had a miss for awhile now but has really gotton worse over the last couple of months. real real bad over the last week or so.

 

well i can't take my car to autozone for a scan because i'm in cali. Well i made a appt. at the dealer for wednesday morning. They quoted me arround $180 to find out what my problem is. But now i'm sort of having second thoughts since i'm a little broke. I don't know if i should go ahead and just replace the opti in hopes that, that is the problem. Or should i have the dealer find out what it is so i know for sure what the problem is then fix it. I'm really just getting frustrated, i wanna get the car fixed.

 

I just finished changing my opti today I also put in a new msd coil and its running good again. it had me scared for a while my car is obd1 and it wasnt throwing any codes but with everybodys help here i found it to be my opti.
