Bad Opti??Please help
My car started shuttering very hard and the SES light is flashing, and according to the manual that means ignition.checked all the wires to see if i fried or cut one but all are in tack. Had it scanned and all cylinders were firing evenly.I have no clue what else it could be , but before i got out and by a new opti I wanted to be sure. Anybody know whats with my baby?
i had this happen to my 94 TA once. Turned out it was the water pump going bad. it had a little leak right under it and would drip into the optispark dist. the moisture somehow CAN get into the opti and throw it out of control. I changed my water pump, drove it a little bit and the missfires went away, never came back.
I would suggest checking for water around the area of the optispark first. driving in the rain it could be splashin it in there or what not.
when u scanned it.....did any codes come out?
The SES light flashes when the PCM detects misfires.
Also, when your car starts acting up again, leave it running and check for spark coming out the wires. If you are losing spark in some wires, inspect your coil.
