Question Bad Opti or PCM ?

I killed the motor in my Z , well it sort killed itself.Somehow I ended up with 3.5-4.0 gallons of oil and gas in the crankcase. There was no signs that this was happening.

I ended up locking the motor up.Luckliy it was at idle when it happen , so hopefully the block is still good.I can not get it turn over all at by hand or with the starter.

Anyway I am putting in a replacement with some upgrades.I am going with Lloyd heads and cam , LE2 and LE1.And the rest of LLoyds suggestions TB , injectors etc.

My question is what does it sound like happen, bad opti , bad PCM?. When I took it apart every other plug was completely fouled (soaking wet they looked new)while the others were running rich , very sooty. It had new injectors (FMS#24)and fuel filter and wires , they only had about 10,000miles on them if that.I do not want to put this back together an have it happen again.Anyone have a clue as to what caused this.

If you cant turn it over it sounds like it is locked up. Probably did alot of damage to the bottom end. Ecspecially with that much gas in the oil, it thinned it out and all the bearings are probably bad.

Yeah I figured the motor is toast.I have a very low mileage replacement that I am going to put in.If I did not hurt the block it will become a 383.

Does anyone have clue as to what happen?.I think it is a bit odd for every other cylinder to be flooded.I do not want the same thing to happen to the replacement.

Give us the numbers of the cylinders that looked to be the problem. Without more information, it sounds like it's injector related.

Man. I think I just went thru this on my 96Z. Do you have an Aeromotive FPR? My car ran bad and smelled like gas and would die. Tried PCM, MAF, new plugs, replaced Opti, etc. Found out my FPR was stuck wide open. Fouled plugs as soon as I started it. No codes were stored. I had like a gallon of gas in the oil. Gas was being drawn in thru the vacuum line. Put on new FPR and changed oil twice and new plugs. Runs like a champ.

Also, back four cylinders were the worse (back two on each side).

Re: Bad Opti or PCM ?

Possibility...
An injector stuck open or FPR diaphragm ruptured. Filled cylinder(s) with fuel. Bent rod from trying to crank the engine and compress the fuel. Engine unable to rotate.

I do not about the FRP the vacumm line was dry when I pulled off.It is a Holley FRP , I guess I could pulled it apart and check t out.But what I find odd is that it cylinders 1 , 5 , 4 , 8 were soaked. And the others were dry , but rich.I do not think I would get that many stuck injectors.I could see one or maybe two , but not four.
