I have a 96 slowmaro. The other day I come home and let the car set you a hour. Then I try to go to the store and the car started to miss. It misses at all RPMs. The plugs and wires are ok. O2s are new. Could the opti be going out?

 

sounds like the Opt to me. Does it buck and jerk and sputter? Thats what happened on my 93 Z when the opt went out. Have fun, we all have to do it sometime. :-)

 

Definitely sounds like the Opti, I heard a slight popping noise when I was driving one day, and as I kept going, it just got worse and worse(at all RPM's)until it just fianlly died. Get a Scan-tool and see if it is throwing any codes, then you'll know.

 

Definitely get the car scanned...I had similar symptoms to what these guys had and it turned out to be the engine coolant temp sensor. The sensor was reading -40 degrees, and dumping in rather large quantities of fuel (too much to burn off) and causing very poor driveability symptoms. The car would buck/sputter/miss/hesitate and would die and sometimes rev up on its own at idle. I went down to my shop and found a code P0118 and replaced the ECT. This just goes to show how important those codes are...what I actually thought was an opti going out, turned out to be a $10 sensor.

MY temp. senor on the side of the block is broken. But it has been broken for a few weeks and has worked fine. I got it scan and it code p300. I will check out the sensor. Thanks for the help.
