Bad lifter already?
I only have about 2,000 miles since installing the cam and heads. When I start the car, I get a clacking noise for a second or so before it goes away. It only does this when the car has been sitting for a couple of days, and even then not always.
I think I also hear some ticking once the engine is warmed up. It's hard to tell, but I don't think it's an exhaust leak.
Would a bad lifter do this? If it wasn't holding oil pressure correctly, I can imagine that it would.
I put in new lifters (Comp 850-16 like they recommend with the 230/236 cam) because I didn't want something to go wrong with them. Of course if I had left the stockers in there, I would have probably had no problems, given the way Mr. Murphy works...
