Angry Is it a bad Knock sensor or bad knock module???

I'm 100% sure its not bad gas, and I know I'm not pinging. about half of the time I drive my car, I can't get knock retard for my life no matter what I try, even if its 90 degrees out. Then the other half of the time I drive my car, I get over 10 degrees of KR whenever I touch the gas, it could be 90 degrees out, or 60 degrees out, it doesn't make a difference. And its on the same tank of gas when I don't get any KR. I can feel a HUGE SOTP loss when I get KR, so I want to get rid of it ASAP, but I'm not sure if its the knock module or knock sensor. I have an LT4 KM, and its only about 2 years old with ~12K miles on it.

Do a search and get the resistor to put in line. I have not had any success with an LT4 KM correcting anything after header's and a cam.

I don't want to disable the knock sensor though, especially in the summer in 95 degree heat... And it hasn't always done this, so I know somethings has gone bad on my car...

Well don't know what to tell ya. Buy a new sensor and KM or do the resistor.

Re: Is it a bad Knock sensor or bad knock module???

I have same problem. My knock retard is not consistent, same tank of gas, punch it several times and some runs get knock retard and some zero. I have taken off crossbrace in case exhaust is hitting but pretty sure its not now. I have installed lt4 km. I havent installed new knock sensor.
I think this spring will try different lt4km or stock km and new knock sensor. I have heard some guys get it from loose rocker, bad lifter..possible as my car seems to have some rocker noise. I have to install my new 1.6 pro mags and CC305 and will put in new lifters at same time.
And if nothing else works going to have a switch on it or program it out or at least so its not coming on at part throttle.

I do seem to have some excess rocker arm noise, I guess I could try to re-adjust them before I spend the $$ on a new knock sensor...

First thing to check is the KS. Pull the connector and measure the voltage at the connector to ground for the presence of 5V.(KOEO) Then measure the resistance of the KS to ground with the wire off. Should be 93K to 107K ohms. If it's higher, it could be that it is not grounded to the block correctly. It's important how it is sealed to not create ground problems. If it is higher, remove it, clean the threads and reinstall it and measure it again. If it's measuring lower than 93K, it will need to be replaced.
