Bad Hesitate..

If i let my car roll in first gear at 1000rpms and just punch it as fast as i can it sort of hesitates for a second then goes. It chirps the tires a little but doesn't spin them up. But if i do the same thing in first gear but at 2000rpms the car just takes off real fast with no hesistation. Before if i punched it like that in first gear it would spin the tires up bad. I just got some brand new yokohama's on it though. Does this sound right? Shouldn't the car still be able to spin the tires up with new tires from a 1000rpm roll punch? I just don't know if the hesitate is just in my head and it just seems like that because of the tires or if it really is hesitating.

Re: Bad Hesitate..

A hesitation or bog might be caused by a leak in your air intake. Check all connections from your filter all the way to your throttle body (throttle body elbow, MAF, etc).

Well when i punch it i can hear a loud air sucking noise coming from my intake. I don't think i have heard it like that before. The filters are attached still but i'm not sure about the rest of it.

how much power do you think your car makes at idle man??? you shouldn't be punching it that low anyway.

Yeah but it feels like it just bogs itself down if i stab at the gas from 1000-1500rpms then right about 2000rpms it just kicks in and pulls hard.

But hey on a side note did you ever take your car to the dyno shop. Or at least figure out what is up with you car. I went but not when i was planning on going because of my Dad going to the hospital for 2 weeks.

**** man I didn't even realize it was you. Hows it going. I actually haven't had a chance yet, I'm going to the track probably this weekend after my alcohol injection is installed and tuned in. Hopefully that will help my problem of driving unintercooled through two hours of traffic and then racing on a friggin hot day =) We'll see.

Seems everyone's car has a different solution to this problem, but here's what I replaced during my 'major' tune-up at 100k miles and no more hesistation!

Timing chain (was in the neighborhood, so wth)
Opti (was still original, optical portion still looked new, rotor starting to look a little worn)
Wires (stock GM)
Plugs (Bosch Platinums)
Cleaned throttle body & IAC (wasn't bad, but had it off the car so...)
MAP (old one checked out fine)
Intake manifold gaskets
Ignition module
Coil
Fuel filter
Fuel pump (old pressure was 16 psi!)

The main cause of my stumble was the low fuel pressure. The other items were done on more of a "planned maintenance" mode so she'll be good for another 100k!
