bad compression?
well today i took a look at my iac and cleaned it up and started my car...it did the same thing as before, it was hard to start then when it did it went from 1500 to 1000 to 500 then it died. so i took it to a local shop and had then look at it and they said that it was bad compression and that one of my cylinders isn't working.
he also said that it could be caused by a bent pushrod or a broken valve spring.
i was wondering if i took off the valve covers to look to see if i had a bent push rod or a broken spring could i save the money on a compression test? also if i take off the valve cover do i need to buy new gaskets or could i use the same ones since the shop isn't even a mile away? any info would be great cuz i need the beast runnin stron before it gets real nice out

if i do take off the valve covers can i reuse the gaskets? at least for a quick trip back to the shop? and does anyone know how much a compression test costs on our cars? and about how much replacing a bent push rod costs? any info would be great thanks
