Backup (reverse) lights come on when
Backup (reverse) lights come on when
The other night I walked out to my car to leave work, started the car, and as soon as I turned the headlight switch on the reverse lights turned on.
If I start the car (without turning the light switch on) and put it in reverse, the lights function as they are supposed to. But once I turn the headlight switch on (even just parking lights) the backup lights come on and stay on until you turn the headlight switch back off.
At first I thought backup switch! But as long as I leave the headlight switch alone they come on when I put it in reverse and go off when I take it out of reverse. So I would assume the switch is working properly.
Does anyone know if the headlight switch is tied into the backup lights circuit?
I appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks,
Jeff

Well, I found the culprit. The power wire to the tail light was pinched together with the power wire to the backup light
(drivers side).
That explains why the backup lights illuminated when I turned the headlight switch to either of the powered positions. It also explains why I didnt get a fuse to pop.
The strange thing is, I havent messed with those tail lights since I did the conversion to the new style over a year ago.
