Backfires/No start after head gasket.

I'm posting for a friend so I don't know all the specifics.

He blew the passenger side head gasket about a month ago and just got it put back together last week. He swears he put all sensors, injectors, spark plugs/wires,vacuum lines back exactly where they were. But when he tries to start it, it just backfires. He doesn't thing he got the opti wet, but who knows. Anything simple to look for? I live a few miles away but haven't gotten a chance to take a look at it yet.

Might not have put the rockers back on correctly. Does it turn over really fast? That would be a sign of low compression and maybe the rockers are so tight they are leaving the valves open.

I didn't trust him when he said he got them on right, but he said he did. I'll tell him to loosen them up and see if that works.

I wouldn't just say to loosen them, they need to be done correctly.

This kid knows nothing about adjusting rockers. I don't even know how he got this far with the head gasket change.

Turns out the rockers were way to tight and he bent all his pushrods. He's waiting on replacement, but I'll post back when he gets it running.
