Backfire help!

Backfire help!

today i took my car to the shop to have it looked at they told me abosultely nothing besides my car reads the battery at 1.5 volts lower then it really is. now i get home reving to see what happens i get a bog which happens when car is hot and it backfires. i rev it up 5 or 6 times prob 3 times it backfired. i was thinking bad opti and this shop didnt know much about it. can a bad opti cause backfiring. I really dont like having to go to a dealership to get this all fixed they charge up the @ss. thanks for the help

Since the opti has everything to do with spark timing, yes, it can cause backfiring. If you are talking about popping when you let OFF the gas, then that is not really backfiring.

do the simple stuff first. change your plugs and wires that partially solved my problem then the opti solved the rest but maybe you'll get lucky
