BackFire

My LT1 backfires sometimes. This only occurs when its at 1000rpms and i put it to the floor. It also revs up fairly slow too. It has a cheap cold air intake that doesnt put the filter as low as the stock setup. This was on the car when i bought it. Could this affect performance. Also if i'm a stop and put it to the floor it will not spin. It just takes off. This sounds good but i think it should break loose.

Please help!

Re: BackFire

Make a sig with your car information so we can help you better. I am guess its an Auto car, and you might have 2.73 rear gears which means little or no spin. If you can select 1st your have 3.23's if you cant only select to 2nd you have 2.73's. As far as the back fire, I dont know, but I'd get rid of that crappy warm air induction.

Re: BackFire

Is your intake one of those silver shiny ones with the cone? If so, those are good at sucking heat from the engine bay - a friend of mine had one of those ebay one's, and I remember touching it - the metal was so hot, as was the filter....

I know the above isn't your prob however, but before you go crazy with mods you might wanna but a K&N, SLP, etc CAI

See how everyone has their car stats below their posts. Go to user CP and then edit signature.

Re: BackFire

My 94 firebird formula was backfiring like crazy this year. This started to happen all of the sudden. I checked everything and it suspect was my fuel pump. I just installed my fuel pump 30 minutes ago and everything seems to be working... Hell ya!!!!
