Back together... Now a noise on input shaft.
Back together... Now a noise on input shaft.
I just finshed a #$@%load of work on the 97Z. Everything works great except for the fans staying on (I think I tightened the coolant temp sensor too much and it is reading off the metal instead of the fluid) and a noise on the input shaft that didn't used to be there.
In neutral the noise isn't too bad, but it is noticable. However, when driving between 1750 and 2250 RPM with some load, there is quite a noise coming from the shift lever. It is kind of, but not exactly like, a grinding noise. It is more like unlubricated gears turning. However, I did just put in 4 qts of Dextron III ATF. Everything seems to work perfectly otherwise.
When putting the transmission back on, should I have greased up the input shaft? Will this noise likely go away after a while? I am worried about driving it if there is a possiblity I will mess something up by doing so.
