Baby cam choices

I am on the fence here ,help me out! Engine is coming out and plans are for MILD 355 with le1 econo heads, tuning after reinstall by TRIFECTA,stock exhaut manifolds and 1.5 rockers will also be used-cam choices are 1."845" GM 2. "227"crane 3."CC304" 4.voodoo "120" 5.LPE "211"- All are between 210-211 dur @.050 with 490-509 lift 112 or 114 LSA.Are any of these choices louder or quiter than the rest, any require any extra machining or have inherent "PROBLEMS" with valve train issues.I can't afford to do this twice and will GLADLY trade HP for less headaches,NO power adders or headers in my future! and forgive me but NOT LOUD at tail pipe but loud valvetrain noise -less ticking is what I want

i would go with either the LPE 211 or the crane 227. Both are great cams that have shown great results. I would go with 1.6 roller rockers though, especially on the LPE since thats what it was designed for.

No headers? Why bother with heads & cam at all if you're not going to let it breath?

That said, if you're going with LE for heads, why not let him pick a cam for your purposes... he won't charge you for advice and I can't think of anyone better to come up with a cam than the person who is doing the heads.

Nothing wrong with no headers. I've been very pleased with out them. Granted
you will not see the gains you would with headers, but if you like the fit
and simplicity of the cast iron manifolds then stick with them. I did port
match mine and open up the outlets to match my custom exhaust, but
that is probably only a few hp difference.

I have the 227 w/1.6rrs in my 97SS. It really woke that sucker up. The crane 210/224 is an RV cam and a real stump puller. It also idles like stock and sounds pretty much stock. Don't know about the other cams, but this cam has a good rep for both M-6 and A4. Easy to tune. JMHO

Look into the "Cadillac" cam.

The LPE 211/219 is a fantastic cam...I ran one in my 383 for years and it ran great with zero drivability issues...LPE did lots of R&D with the 211/219 and the 219/219 way before most other companies were in business let alone working with these motors...Its a proven cam which should suit your needs very well...

I'm just about done with a cam swap in my '95, installed a LPE 211, should know by tomorrow...fingers crossed...what it feels like. I went down in size from a 236/242 on 114lsa to the LPE 211. I have the LPE 211 in my truck, but I'm sure its no comparison to how its going to feel in a f-body...it pulls great down low towing
