I was out the other night in my 96 Z and some kid cam up to me and was yapping about his Z28.... he told me that his fuel pump went out so he got an "SS" fuel pump from the dealer and his car is 100 x faster...lol ...last time i checked,(93-97) i thought they were the same? Is this kid full of it or what? thanks fellas

 

maybe he got a 98-02 pump?

 

will that even fit? and even so they couldnt be that much different...

 

tell him to sell his z28 for a civic.

 

if it was holding no fuel pres with the original pump i bet it now is 100% faster.

 

Chances are, this guys pump has been slowly failing over time causing a gradual loss in power until it finally failed altogether. So by installing a brand new pump, it basically restored the lost power making the car feel "faster." However, the pumps are the same so he is probably just overhyping his pump as being something spectacular. Hell, I think I will add that I have an "SS pump" in my sig.

 

thats exactly what i was thinking....wow i hate these stupid people...its actually kind of insulting... but are the pumps diff?

I think 2000GTP hit the nail right on the head. The kid should have added some stickers onto his car. Each sticker is worth 1 rwhp.
