B&M Shift Kit???

Ok...question...I bought my Camaro last August...I was looking through the papers he gave me and he had hand written some stuff that was recently done with the car...The guy wrote that I there is a B&M shift kit...How can I find out if this is really true? Also he wrote that it has a PROM chip??? How can I find this out also...I dont really have time or money to dyno my car but...what can I do?

Look at sig...

Thanks...

I wouldn't worry too much about either. If you don't ... or if you do.. you won't notice much of any difference.

the Prom wouldn't do much of anything unless you have some decent bolt-ons. Maybe it will get you 5-10hp.. thats pushing it.

The shift-kits don't do much unless you do a "custom" one w/ new springs and blah blah.. lots of stuff involved.

If i assume you have a very smooth running motor, with good plugs.. wires... rings.. blah blah blah...

285Flywheel HP
~260rwhp w/ Manual
~250rwhp w/ a good auto (not slipping)

i thought our cars got reflashed like a computer bios. thats how mine is. there is no prom chip to change out. maybe the knock module is what he was talking about. how does it shift?? does it bang second and third?? then you have a shift kit. if it shifts normal then you dont.

david

i see most of the mods in your sig have nothing to do with performance. i would guess you dont have either. what kind of quarter does it run??

If you look at his sig he has a '93 Z which has a chip and doesn't get reflashed like your and my car.

Just an FYI

Pretty much if you have a shift kit, you should almost always chirp 1-2 shift even with really light throttle. At least thats how it works in mine.

mine never did it until i added the kit. it was a little firmer than my kia minivan (ouch it hurts to say that) but night and day between no kit and shift kit installed. i have the trans go instead of the b&m.

The B&M shift kit helps the lift of the tranny and smoother shifting. I do have the shifter kit in my trans am and the code from thru the floor board and there is a switch to go back to norm shifting or shifting with the B&M kit so it will help. I dont now if the guy hooked it up the same why mine it but like I said my comes up thru the floor board under the dash so it next to my gas pedal so I can just reach down and change flip the switch. Also just to let everyone know its on the floor by my feet its like on the roll up part next that splits the driver side and the passenger side.
