Awsome 'Free mod' for 1/2 second gain in the 1/4???

Hey what's up with this?! I saw a thread over on drag racing that stated "with a 1 inch hole in my exhaust right before the rear axle {and an underdrive pulley} I picked up .5 in the 1/4 mile". Seriously, is this a good 'Free Mod' or what? I couldn't find anything about this on a free mod search. What about fumes inside the car? I read where underdrive pulley's don't make that much of a difference so is most of his gain due to the 1 inch. hole? For a .5 gain in the 1/4 mile I guess its worth it to drive around with your window down? What's up with this? Is it an awsome free mod or an exhaust leak? {Seriously}. Bill...

p.s I asked this same question over on the Drag Racing forem inside of another thread. I'm asking it again here due to low volume on that thread. Plus I noticed that being inside of another thread it might not get noticed. Next time I have a question like this I will just post it here....

Dude.. Please tell me you are joking. A cutout will yeild a 10rwhp gain give or take... but a 1" hole yielding a .5 second gain, so about 50 RWHP. sign me up. Don't believe everything you read. You came to the right place to get you questions answered

People with 3" cutouts dont even gain a full 1/2 second, let alone a little 1" hole. Most likely this guys driving skills and 60' times improved from his last run after he added those two things but they didn't give him 1/2 sec. I bet what hes talking about is the mod where you connect the exhaust pipe before it enters the stock muffler to the passenger side pipe by drilling a 1" hole in each then connect them with a 1" copper fitting and JB weld or something like that. I remember seeing that somepeople were doing that a few years ago, kind of a ghetto muffler bypass. I'm sure it would chang the sound some and help performance a little but not that much.

....yeah, Greg 97Z was right, I did a search over at our LS1 Forum. It had a link to LS1.com where it listed it as a 'free exhaust mod'. It called it "the poor man's Borla". It used a 1 inch copper pipe to run between the inlet to the muffler and the outlet to the right side of the exhaust. Must be a sound thing.... Thanks guys, Bill....

Hey thanks for the support HOZB817.... And as for you STV Killer, its probably really easy for you to find your ***** to adjust them cuz your d*** is so small...... And don't call me DUDE....
And of course I knew that this mod isn't going to get anyone a 1/2 second, it probably won't even get you 1/2 of a 10th of a second but I worded it that way to get everyones attention. Oh, and by the way STV Killer, 1/2 of a 10th. of a second is .05 seconds, just in case your math is as rusty as your personallity. And I still say that this just might make a guys car sound better {if loud is what one wants}....... Bill.....

One time, I squeezed a K&N airfilter into my exhaust, and I got 3 seconds off my ET and gained like 30mph.

now this is for real:
i gained 2 seconds and 10mph in the 1/4
all i did was get a pair of drag radials and changed my fuel pump to a Walbro 255lph

i was running 14.4 at 105
now i run 12.5 at 115

and that is really the truth......
