Average 1/4 mile times ??

Why is my 1/4 mile soo slow. I usually run 16+ sec. in the 1/4 mile with my 95 z28, a few other friends with the same cars run the same

ram air, aluminum driveshaft, computer prog.and small bolt ons.

What should be a good run for a 93-97 Z28 Lt1 ???

14.0 @ 100 on 2.73 gears with a 2.2 60 foot time.

Significantly worse at high altitude (think Denver) and hot weather.

However, if you're running 16s, there is something wrong.

14.0's with a good driver......

strange that all your friends are running the same also. What MPH do you trap?

and at what altitude? although I REALLY doubt that would make THAT big of a difference.

Altitude plays a nice little role on your times! But I don't know if that is the problem in this case.

Are other cars at the track you go to running higher than normal times?

Track conditions can play a major role in your times. If your friends with similar cars are running the same times, then that would confirm it.

the track is near San francisco, it is weird beacuse one person with a 94 z28 runs consistant 14's (100% stock car) and the rest of us just run 16's,

I'm pretty sure there are no problems with our cars,( maybe they were just built to be slow ??? )

a lot can be wrong even without being obvious. you could have clogged fuel components, knock retard, worn out plugs/wires, etc

times in the 16s are way to slow even for a stock car to be normal (unless maybe if someone has a manual and can't shift for crap)

Got a thought... Computer programming? EXACTLY what is done in the program? (Thinking HUGE knock retard, combined with 2.7 short times due to spinning street tires off the line after a huge burnout from the waterbox...)

of course, the V6 thing makes sense. (Except my ex girlfriend's V6 runs more like 15.3 @ 89 stone stock, maybe just 'cause she was driving it!)

You need to put way more info in your posts.
Manual Automatic, trap speeds, reaction time, altitude, weather, how long youve had the car, do you have 19" rims on it or something, is your car a V6?? (seriously)... How does it feel on the top end? is it shifting like crap? do you chirp into 2nd? are you blowing smoke? when was the last time the plugs were changed? how long have you had the car?
If you gave us half of this info im sure someone would be able to give you some better answers.
To answer your question, close to 14.0 should be bout right for a stock weight 95Z with no major issues.
