Would I benefit from getting a bigger throttle body? Mods in signatue. If so, what brand/size would u recommend? Cost does matter. Thanks. Dustin.

yes

stock rebuilt with port.

ebay is the easiest place to get it, and you can get it powder coated whatever color you want for an extra like 20 bucks.

or, AS&M 58mm if you want more than about 54mm

I looked on ebay right after i posted this thread. Those ported stockers like pretty good to me. Isnt the intake only bored to 52mm??

Ditto, stock TB ported to 52mm w/ custom matched airfoil, or keep it stock with an air foil.

A local guy dyno tested all different sizes of TB's and showed about a 10rwhp/15tq gain with a 58mm tb. Id go 58 instead of wasting money on everything else.

But the question is, what kind of mods did the engine have, how many ci and how much hp was the engine making? With out this info your post is useless.

I dunno. I go back and forth on this. I should hit the dyno to prove to myself, but the SOTP feel says that car is faster/more responsive with BBK 58mm than with stock TB. I've swapped back and forth like 5 times. I have minimal mods - 355, hooker shorties, no cat, air, egr,

With a 58mm throttle response is signifigantly changed and most people will mistake this for more power. What is actually hapening is the engine gets more air with 58mm blades at 10degrees than it did the 48mm at 10 degrees so it is like you are opening the throttle further.

On a stockish motor rebored stocker to 52mm is the way to go. If you are going to buy a new TB then it only makes sense to skip right to the 58mm with appropriate intake opening porting.

Either way get the pcm reprogrammed if you have a A4.
