AutoZone Part # - Oil Level Sensor

Today I went to get the plug for my leaky oil level sensor. I know this question comes up often. The AutoZone part number is 090-040.1. I paid $2.49 for it here in Louisville.

AutoZone's description of the part is "Oil Drain Plug Gasket" but it is the plug and gasket. The size M20-1.5 is stamped on the top of the one I purchased. This part is not out on the shelves, you'll have to ask for it.

good info the oil level sensor is pretty much useless anyway. there are probably not to many people on this board who dont check thier oil on a regular basis anyway.

Cheaper too. $35 for the sensor vs $2.50 for the plug. I'd rather have the sensor cause I like things the way they were made, but I needed to save some bucks. Mostly I want to stop the leak.

I'm sure everyone figures this out like I did but to help those doing a plug installation for the oil level sensor, you have to jumper the sensor plug so you don't get an oil light illuminated on the cluster. I used a stiff piece of wire and then tie wrapped the cable up and out of the way. If your oil light is on, you'll have to turn off the car to reset the indicator.

Ebays been having for around $15 if you'd rather go that route. I got a sensor off there for $18 shipped to me new in box w/gasket. Good luck on stopping an LT1 from leaking oil
