Autometer electronic gauge senders?

I just recieved my autometer electronic oil temp and tranny temp gauges. I will be using the pressure plug on the driver side of the transmission for the tranny temp gauge. For the oil temp i will be using the port above the oil filter. My question is if the places that i have chosen will need adapters for the sending units, or if they will screw right into the block and tranny? Thanks.

Most likely yes on both ends. Although I have not installed any one of these two guagesbefore. Never have I seen Autometer stuff come with everything you need. But those locations should work.

Those types of senders are usually mounted in the pans, I don't know how accurate they will be in a pressure fitting. You may want to call Autometer before you install them.

Anybody riding this Sunday/Monday?

Re: Autometer electronic gauge senders?

i have the autometer trans temp in the same place you are talking about and it fit perfect. no adapter needed. the plug above the oil filter is 1/4 NPT so it think it would be fine as well. The only thing i noticed about my tranny temp gauge is it runs about 20 warmer than what the pan temp is.

Re: Autometer electronic gauge senders?

A lot of people on the board here have put the senders in the places i have said, but as i look at shoebox's site, the pressure plug on the tranny is a 1/8 NPT and the sender is a 1/4" NPT. So is there an adapter for that?

Chris, if you want to ride sunday or monday send me a pm.

i didnt have to use an adapter at all for my tranny temp sensor. it screwed right into the tranny case. i dont have an oil temp but i am running the oil feed line for my supercharger from the port above the filter and it is 1/4 npt.

you will need a adapter for the oil temp. it's included in the kit with the gauge so you will be fine. If im not mistaken its the smallest one in the kit.

You guys are right. I finally realized that the different adapters are included. Thanks for the help.
Everett- what tranny temps do you normally see while crusing?
