Autolite 106 or 104?

I have a stock 97 z with 64k. I am planning a cam install but no head work.
My car is an a4 dd. the cam will be fairly mild but high lift.

Anyho my question is which autolite would be best for me? I will not be spraying, racing, boosting etc. I have heard some find the 106 to be too hot but with my fairly mild setup will I have any problems with the 106?
*I will get the platinum version

I figure since the 106 are factory heat range I should stick with them for better burn/ fuel mileage

either would be just fine, but I prefer the 104's even for naturally aspirated performance........106's are kinda hot in my opinion.....

well, I've not heard anything bad about the autolite's. I have heard of people having major issues with the ngk's other's run fine with them. I am also looking for a platinum plug and haven't heard much about the ngktr55gp. imho the autolite's look like a better plug and come in a double platinum for ~3.50 which is a great deal.

Personally I would rather not run anything japanese in my car if I can help it I know I'll get some flame for that comment.

Really looking for an answer to the previous question. I know what other alternatives are out there and I am not really interested in them.

NGK's have a bad history of the porcelin breaking, I have not used them since as they claimed there was not an issue and ignored their customers. I only use Autolite plugs and NEVER have spark plug related problems.

Use the 106's for a stock motor.

Re: Autolite 106 or 104?

I've run the Autolite 104's (NA) and 103's (125-shot), along with some Champions (S57YC) for the 300-shot, and haven't had a problem in the 6 years the engine's been running. A also ran the NGK TR6's when the engine was a stocker with a dry nitrous kit.... again, no problems with those plugs either.

1LESSZ28:

A stock heat range plug should be fine for your setup.

Re: Autolite 106 or 104?

I'm running the Autolite 106s on my car, heads, CC306 cam, 88k mile shortblock.

I'm not getting any detonation here in So Cal on 91 octane in 105* weather. Also my heads have 56 cc combustion chambers so my compression is in the 11.0 range I believe. Car runs very well, I was running Delco platinums before, I like the 1.29 autolites much better
