Auto Shift Points RPM Range

Why are auto Z28's shifting at 5700 rpm? Is it safe to bring it up to 6000? Whys it down lower anyhow on a stock engine? Also if you cam the engine, should the shiftpoints on an auto be switched higher as well? how do you figure it out? sorry for all the questions, but dont think its been touched on really...

Its set at that rpm b/c that is where the motor pulls the best and produces the most power. You can set the shift point up higher is you put a cam in it, but make sure what the power range of the cam is first. You would have to have some kind of programmer or "Tunercat, LT1 Edit, etc" to do this. Anymore questions??
