ATTN Shoebox please help me out....
As you seen in my other post I was having problems with my car running. Today I put a new walbro pump in. No when I turn the ignition to the on position the FP guage reads barely anything and the car will crank but not start. Then I crank it again and up to 40 psi the guage goes then the car starts fine. Took it out and drove it and it seem to be fine. As soon as I shut the car off the guage goest to 0? Then I try to start it again and nothing on the first try but then on the second cranking cycle she's up to 40 and starts?
I don't understand whats going on can you help me out?

I didn't see your other post but there are some things you can do that are outlined on my website.
Oops sorry, you replied to my other post so I thought you might remember it but I know you reply to many. I'm just tring to rule out if the pump I just purchased is good or not. In my previous post my stock pump would hold pressure after i turned the ignition off at about 37. However after I drove the car and then shut the car off for a few minutes when I came out started the car and it read 20psi and ran like crap. So I replaced the fuel filter and coil just incase it was spark related and now I bought a walbro 255 pump off a board member. The car won't hold pressure now after I shut it off. And doesn't read pressure on the guage till it starts on the second set of cranking.I find that odd being all I replaced was the pump and even the stock pump using all the same lines injectors and so on, help pressure with ignition off and now it doesn't. So I'm thinking if there was a leak somewere between the tank and guage even with the old pump I would have seen pressure loss but didn't. Now I do?
This is a quote from a post from HBHracing:
"If the pressure bleeds down fast it is usualy due to a faulty fuel pump check valve and the fuel pump will need to be replaced."
If this is true wouldn't the car never start because there would be no fuel or does the check valve not work that way?

Sorry, I spread myself over too many posts. Maybe you should have linked to it.
No, the check ball would not keep it from making pressure, just holding it after the pump goes off. Injectors, regulator and lines need to be ruled out, too.
