Angry Attn: Heads/Cam Guys!! Frustrated! Have ?'s.

After 3 mths of waiting, I had my engine pulled out to fix what we thought was either a blown head gasket, craked heads, or something of that nature. All I know is that my cooling system was being pressurized by an internal leak. This was confirmed by some white smoke on my left bank, and wet coolant on the underside of my valvecovers. The heat would rise under extreme load (WOT) and go back down as the fans turned on (Switch on at 195 Deg.)

The shop tore the engine down and found a combustion leak on piston eight. You could see the black marks around 2 parts of the headgasket around the cylinder head. We had found our problem.

I want to add that the engine was really clean and we were getting worried that we wouldnt find anyting until we pulled the heads. So it was assembled back with FEL-Pro Race head gaskets.

Now, after re-installing my engine, we turn in on,work the issues, and I notice that my engine tempature is going up to around 200 degrees, but then goes down after the fans turn on. Goes up again after they turn off. So I then proceed to check the PCV hose on the passenger side valve cover, I remove it, and the freakin' thing pours out water. Like a big spoon of it. It was crystal clear, no signs of oil. So I then remove my driver side valve cover (easiest to remove) and I check the underside I can see the oil mixed with water again It seems to be on the underside of the covers as there is no visible trace on heads topside.

My question is.....is this normal? Is it steam? Vapor? You could see some of the vapor puff out as I removed the oil filler cap. Not much, but very visible. My car stock never did this. So is this normal with a Heads and cam car? It is really hot out here.

Also, I checked my fuel pressure and it went down around 6-8 psi when I revved the engine without load. Is this normal? should it not stay constant?

Thanks for you help, I am very frutrated, as I have had over a 8 months without getting a good drive out of my car.

After doing my heads and cam I add water build up in the engine. My oil looked like a milk shake when I went to change it! Afetr changing the oil it was fine and no more water. This probably doesnt help, but thought I would share.

Real Quick,

Thanks a bunch for your response. Just some questions.

Does you car still emit vapors/steam out of your oil filler hole?

What fuel pressure are you running? I did a quick test and found that my pressure went down as I revved the engine by about 6 to 8 psi. This is with vaccum hose on, and no load. BTW I have a Hypertech Fuel Pressure regulator. IT sits around 40 psi at idle with vaccum hose on.

Why did your only dyno 350 RWHP. I would of expected at least 380 with an M6. Have you check your Fuel pressure?

No more moisture problems. My fuel pressure is still set at stock with the stock regulator. An AFPR is on my to do list. I dont think your fuel pressure should drop like that when you rev. I would think it goes up like my step bro's stang.

As far as my hp numbers, I have a mail order tune as well as stock homeported heads. Lloyd is doing my other heads right now and my JET Hot LT's are being delivered. I should be closing in on the 390-400rwhp mark soon enough. I am really not to far off right now than guys with similar mods. I dont know of anyone that has made 380RWHP with homeported heads and my cam. That 380 you speak of is probably with a good set of ported heads.
