Exclamation Attention Gearheads!!!

Alright, as you see in my sig. i have a Formula WS6 M6. My plans for my car right now are to run 12-12.49 et's. My car right now is stock (excluding a flowmaster cat-back, Grannatelli MAF, K&N, Hurst short throw, and Hypertech 160 deg. stat. My buddy back at home has a 5.0, and he's started to do some stuff to it, and all of you know that no F-Body likes to lose to the 5.0's. So what headers should i get? What heads? What cam? Is there an intake out there thats worth it? Im guessing 3.73's? Some suspension mods, subframe connectors? Only catch is that my county has emmisions testing so I cant have anything that wont pass and that this summer I dont want to spend more than a grand. I know it kind of leaves me limited, but theres got to be something I can do, right?
One of my budd's gave me this:
http://lt1f-body.racenet.net/packages.php
and told me to look at the powerpackage II, but it doesnt seem right to be buying a "racenet" namebrand. I mean who buys a summit camshaft?
So, Im leaving this thread open to you guys' opinions. Please give me some ideas so I wont be in his smoke at the track!

For a Grand? Yikes.

If budget is the key, then get the Hotcam kit from Jason Cromer
About $500

'94-'95 single cat MAC midlength Headers uncoated:
About $450

Carsound high flow catalytic converter from performancepeddlers on Ebay:
$45 shipped

I'm not sure how strict your emmissions testing is. You might not get away with the single cat headers.

That has the possibility to get you to high 12's, maybe better.

Only other option is nitrous.

I forgot the PCM tune. That's another $125, but is very important.

Oh yeah, and that Power Package II that you linked to is going to be way more than $1k

Judging from your post is sounds like you have not raced at the track much. One of the best things you can do is go to the track as often as possible and practice practice practice!

Also, do one modification at a time. That way you can get all the bugs worked out before you make another change. And believe me, there will be plenty of kinks along the way! Goodluck

Are you saying you want to run mid to low 12's only using a 1000 bucks? If thats the case, when you do it can you please let me know how?

Doing all the bolt on's usually put you in the low 13's.

Sounds like to even get close you'd need to spray a 150 shot or more to get 12's and that will take care of most of your 1 grand. Plus when you spray that much or more very often, it sometimes means you'll be getting an engine rebuild sooner than you'd like.

Your gonna be looking for some used parts to get to your goals for only $1000. It can be done though if you do all your installs yourself. I would get some used Mac headers or some used slp's. Then you could get the Hotcam kit for cheap off of Jason Cromer like said before. Or if you buy it off somebody you could even get it for cheaper. That should put you in the high to mid 12's depending on how well you can drive and more importantly launch your car. If you had any money left over i would look for a set of used DR's.

First off, it's a 5.0. I lost by a car to a gutted 5.0 with heads and a cam spraying 150 shot. That was with my hotcam and stock heads. Seriously, just some nitrous will do. Keeps you well under budget. Just a 100 shot and some sticky tires. Good luck.

-do staight pipes for your exhaust, sure as heck won't pass emissions but will be really cheap.
-sticky tires are a must maybe you can find some used slicks in the buy and sell section.
-look for a used hotcam kit too on this site. People are always upgradeing from it.
-and a tune from pcmforless or the other guy can't remember his name right now.
-build a custom cai (you can learn how from people on this site or just email me)
-lt4 km (b/c your exhaust will be really loud)
-used lt headers
-and 4.10's
-b

You dont, Ram Air works fine just put a K&N Filter in it.

Midlengths are your best bet for passing emissions. Just run a highflow cat. The nice thing about MAC's is that you can just swap the cat in/out with the off road pipe that goes in its place. Talk to stereomandan and b-stevens for more information.
