ASR Control Module probs. Please advise!!
Just joined up with the forum and am looking forward to the benefits! Thanks in advance. I have recently noticed a major problem with my girlfriend's baby ('96 6-speed Z28) and it's really causing me to lose sleep at night. She drove it to work the other day and when she left to come home, the accelerator wouldn't work. She mentioned that it was hard to push the pedal down and the engine lacked power. Once she got it home, I began to investigate. What I found was that the pedal was in fact hard to push to the floor, and felt like when the ASR took over in low trac conditions. After removing the dust cover to the ASR module, I figured out that the gears that are controlled by the ASR system appear to be adjusting on their own to the point of preventing the cable from the box to the throttle body from moving. All it takes is adjusting the gears back to the proper setting to remedy the problem, but as you can imagine, this is a bit more of a pain than I would like to deal with. Also, it appears if I switch the ASR off from within the car, the problem does not occur. Just wondering if anyone has any input from past experiences or has heard of this problem. Am hoping I don't have to replace the module as I'm expecting it is an expensive item. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

Re: ASR Control Module probs. Please advise!!
Thanks for the advice. Have a friend that owns a dealership so I might just take it to him...maybe he won't hurt me too bad. Just enjoy tinkering myself but there seems to be an absence of info about this asr system everywhere I look. Tried unplugging it the other day but that just shuts everything down...abs and all so that wasn't a good idea. Hopefully it's the sensors. And by the way, what sort of scanner am I needing? I've heard about these wheel sensors being the trouble sometimes but how would I go about checking them?
