right, its actually "anti slip regulation"
i've never seen it on a 97 ss in person, i haven't seen too many 97 ss engines in person either,,but it is an option on the car, its not factory thing, but i need to know if an airbox will fit in there or not..

Well, that's a new one on me. I have 97SS, but I was unaware that M-6s had a traction regulation device. How does that work?

If you are planning on installing a Scam Air box then, of course, I can understand why you want to know. Is the SS hood the one that comes with the SS or a different one? Is the air box an SLP/SS box?(If you go with a CAI then of course the question becomes moot.

If you have a picture of the ARS location, etc, I guess I could take a look at my setup and see if there is any room and how much.

But still interested in why you would have traction control on an M-6 and how it works.

As I recall one could not order that ASR as an RPO on a 1996-97 SS. But I am not certain. I didn't want it and I recall that I didn't need to worry about it since they could not put one on an SS.

Yep. When I order my 97SS, I got everything you could get, except the drag tires , including the cover. Never saw any kind of traction control device.

I thought that those thingys only came with automatics. Don't they work with the transmission?

Perhaps the car was an A-4 to begin with??

Keep us posted. I am really curious.

Ok. I'm beginning to get the picture. The ARS type of control works with the brakes rather than the tranmission or computer, so the problem becomes one of living with it unless you want to compromise your ABS.

So back to the drawing board. If you have the OEM/SLP SS hood and the Scam Air box to go with it, it is surely a matter of fitness.

I'd have to see how the ARS box sits, including dimensions before I could take a look at my system and give you an opinion.

If the box sits on top of the Driver's side valve cover we'd have to determine if there was any room for the air box plenum to clear the box. Since the Air Box is such a POS anyway, perhaps you could modify it a bit if you are set on making the hood scoop operational. Dunno.

I will help you if I can.

ASR was never an option on the 96/97 SS or Firehawk. The reason that it wasn't available on the SS is bcuz of the air box, there isn't any room for the ASR box after the SLP air box.

My A4 has ASR and I installed an aftermarket SS Hood and Airbox from Motion?Baldwin.
I didn't see any problems with it fitting.
