ASP pulley
its not great to get an underdrive pulley unless this is only a drag car. driving in the streets is harder since the power steering is not as powerful plus the alt will be spinning slowly as well which could cause power problems.
i dont have any excess drainage on the car....factory stereo, i dont even have fog lights.
the car is not my daily driver, just a track and cruise car. maybe 5000miles a year.

I have one and haven't had any problems with it, but my idle speed is higher than normal (900 RPM) so the alternator still gets a full charge. If you're worried about charging, spend the extra $20 and get the overdrive alternator pulley...that'll speed it back up and you won't have to worry about it.
The belt is a Goodyear...I forget what the number is, but you'll get a sheet with the pulley that tells you what to buy. I ended up having to get it from AutoZone since Pep Boys didn't carry it.

I had one on my 93 for 7 years without a problem, the only thing I noticed was that the belt chirp on the shifts was gone and that the lights would dim slightly at night at idle.
I also have no problems and run a march underdrive crank pulley with stock alternator pulley(they do make overdrive alt. pulleys if you have problems with your automatic trans. car). I have a 6 speed though so I idle at 900rpms, you have a stall though so you should be idling higher too though. If you autocross, maybe you would stress the steering but I feel no difference and mine is a weekend warrior, not a daily driver so if it's battery can survive getting started once a week or so... that's great. Good luck, I felt no seat of the pants dif but I'm sure it all adds up. Just like the MSD box was worth 3RWHP(rear wheel HP), not much but add that 7-10 for the pulley, another 7-10 for a 52mm TB, you are adding up. I would not start out with small mods like this unless you buy them used(I got my pulley for 50 buck used with belt)- save them until you do headers, computer work, intake air box, cat-back. Good luck, I'd get a pulley though all in all.
i also idle around 900rpms, do i dont think i will have any problems either.
i already got all the boltons except the pulley
im looking for ways to squeeze every last bit out of this heads/cam combo.....
has anyone ever hit 390rwhp with the xe224/230 and 350ci?
i dont think i have seen 380rwhp......
jesse

I have an older March 20% UD damper/pulley [not a 'piggyback' ]picked it up on here used..
I get slight voltage drop at night with heater fan, etc. on but it hasn't killed battery yet,[been on 2 yrs] and if sitting a while I just shove it into neutral...
Try to get a damper type not a piggyback type[ I think the ASP's are 'dampers'?.. not sure tho..]
A lot of people make the error of removing their damper and using the piggyback type alone[ a big no no!]
Seems there's mixed opinions on these too..
I did 'trial and error' for a belt fit..

Hey Jesse, Just trying to cover my butt. Got jumped on here once for having things like 52mm TB, pulley, Hypertech and the such.
I'm right there with you, I was at the end of the line of bolt on's so for me it helped push me over the 283RWHP(along with all this other crap)=pulley, offroad pipe(pew, it stinks of raw fuel but runs like a raped ape), MSD box(3 dyno RWHP), MSD superconductor wires, and 52mmTB. Now 302RWHP with all that crap, what did what besides the MSD box- I have no idea.
BTW, piggyback pulleys are o.k. as long as you put back the harmonic balencer. The only reason to buy the dampner/pulley made in one is if you run under11.99(I think), then you need an SFI legal dampner and it's legal, stocks not or if you score it cheap. It's better I'm sure, I'm not doubting the dude above me's post- IMO it's not manditory- I scored my pulley used for 50 and my TB is a bored one for a little over a 150 freshly bored
