ARP Thread Sealant FTL

So what has everyone been using instead of ARP thread sealant for the ARP head studs?

I've heard multiple complaints about the ARP thread sealant.

I'm not running studs but the Permatex stuff has been just fine for me.

ARP thread sealent was letting oil through my rocker arm studs, and it was non-existent on my head bolts when I pulled them out so I have no doubt it was letting coolant into my oil, so you are not alone.

I had problems with studs leaking and the permatex stuff, switched to the ARP stuff and have not had a problem since.

Lots of thread sealant and finger tight. Exactly like the instructions say. There's not really much you can do wrong...

Go to ARP's website. Your supposed to screw them all in 3-5times before hand. Also get a coolant pressure tester thing at Autozone, you can rent them for like $80, but you get it back when you drop it off.

I use Permatex Teflon. I like to run the bolt in and out once with sealer, apply again, and final assemble. Sealer gets down further in the mating threads that way. Also, when applying the sealer, press hard enough with your finger to fill the roots of the threads all the way. You don't need a lot, just enough to fill all the threads to the top. More just makes a mess.

Well if you don't TQ the bolts/studs right after you install them they leak like crazy.
