ARP Main Studs (I Need HELP!!!)

Well, I have run into another problem. My machinist used all short studs in the mains so, I took the engine back to get the proper studs installed for the use of the factory windage tray. The machine shop used the ARP 234-5501 main studs which most say are too short. I mentioned that the ARP's were too short for the LT1 factory tray. He put the ARP stud and the factory bolt together and showed me that they are the same length. I told him about the Milodon main studs and he says that the Milodon studs (81150) are the same as the ARP.

It is hard trying to explain something to someone that has been doing engine machining for over 20 years. He specializes in LT1's so I don't know why he does not know that the ARP's are not correct. I don't see how he can make this work. Why doesn't ARP note this in their catalog?

Can anyone shed some light on this? I have done a search but I am still trying to figure out how the ARP's can be too short if they are the same length as the stock piece?

Been down this road. The Milodon studs are the exact length for LT1.
