ARP Main Studs???

I called Summit and Jegs and they both said that the Gen1 main stud kit will work, but I remember seeing somewhere that the studs for the windage tray were too short. Anyone have any pointers or know of a stud kit that works with the windage tray?

Thanks in advance

If you are building a motor that needs main studs, you should be upgrading to a pan that has built-in windage screen, trap doors, and baffles.

The Milodon windage tray stud kit works very well.
LINK to Summit

Usind the stock windage tray is one of the best methods to ensure solid steady oil pressure on an LT1. That tray will keep air from pounding down on the oil in the sump. I use the stock windage tray for every engine no matter what oil pan I use. It can be a $650 Billet Fabrication pan or a $500 Stef's or a $40 stock pan, they all bennefit from the stock windage tray.

You can do 2 engines with that kit.

So I would have to buy those and the arp studs for the other bolts? Or just those? I'm planning on using a stock pan and the reason that I'm upgrading to main studs is that I spun a bearing with a totally stock car and doing the studs seems to be some extra insurance. But I guess that I could be wrong

Thanks for the link

Wow that kit and the ARP kit would be close to $100. How necessary are main studs on a mild motor?

Yes, you'd have to buy ARP main studs and the Milodon studs.

I think that on a mild motor that the mains can do fine with just the stock bolts. Main studs are nice though and never hurt a thing if you know what I mean.
Don't forget to have the mains align honed with whatever main bolts/studs you decide to purchase, and if you stay with the stock bolts too.

You could get those Milodon studs "1-each" and that would be $35 bucks (about) via Summit.

Some camaroz28.com vendors might have those at a good price or some other option.

For my motors I use ARP main studs and the 3 Milodons so it does cost a bit more but not all that much. (Builders buy wholesale ....hint...hint)

You have any laying around LOL

Ok I'll call summit and see what kind of deal they can give me. And my motor is now getting new forged pistons and I'm having it bored 30 over, so it will be a little more agressive then a stock bottom end
