I dont have the dough to get them coated, plus they are already installed. I know they cause rusting, but mine are stainless. I saw some that just sliped over the tube loosely, not the wrap tight kind.

Are you having problems with a very hot engine compartment? Why are you wanting to wrap them?

$561 Mac Mid-lengths, Coated inside and out from Jet-Hot.

but I wouldn't do it to normal headers. It weakens them and causes them to crack.

Yes, they get real hot. I think i'm running a little lean, because they ALMOST glow. I think with the wraps i could protect my msd's also.

I dont think taht it would hurt anything to wrap them. You would be better off with coated ones but it doesnt really matter.

Cool

Header wrap on an uncoated header will cause the metal to heat up to an extreme degree and weaken. You will then blow a large hole in them near the exhaust flange and be buying a new set of headers. If your headers are getting extrememly hot this will only make the problems worse as it hold in more heat. You may want to have your car tuned and scanned if your headers are almost glowing, thats a severely bad tuning issue.

Yeah, header wrap will decrease the life of your headers BIG TIME! Given how expensive headers are and how hard they are to change, I would find another way of keeping parts cool.

I bought a spare set of SLP headers used that were uncoated with header wrap and the wrap had caused noticable rust problems. The headers were still usable but the wrap had done some damage. It didn't matter to me too much though i sold them.
