Anyone willing to post videos?

I'm trying to figure out how to change the fuel injectors on my 1993 V8 Z28 Camaro. I'm being told it is hard and not worth it by some people and that it is easy by others. Is there anyone who has made a video of how to change injectors or would be willing to make a video to help out a newbie?

How do you check the fuel pressure?
I also need help on locating and changing the fuel filter.

disconnect + battery terminal
remove injector harness (8 pigtale plugs with numbers on them)
remove the 4 8mm bolts hoing the fuel rail down
use a fuel line diconnect tool to remove the fuel lines
lift the rail off, injectors are attached
unclip injectors from fuel rail.

hope that helps...

and for fuel pressure you can buy a 0-100psi fuel pressure gauge online. hooks right into the schrader valve on the back of the fuel rail... you'll see it once its off.

Re: Anyone willing to post videos?

one wrench and one flathead screwdriver I done all 8 of mine it was really really easy.

There's supposed to be some sort of disconnect tool like the other guy said but I don't have one.. I have a my hands.

It might not be the right way but it hasn't broken anything yet and I've done it 4 times in the past 3 months (rust clogging from fuel tank)

remove the 4 bolts, the fuel rail clips in all you should have to do is pull up and it will pop off. Don't try and go 90 degrees with the thing you'll break it, but you have a pretty good amount of clearance to lift it up with, it will raise from the front about 6 inches.

Use your fingers to push in the metal spring clip holding in your plugs, pull out all 8, they come out pretty easy, just make sure you put them to the side so you know which goes where, they are not numbered. At least mine aren't.

Use the screwdriver to pop the clips holding the injectors in. They wont (Shouldn't) pop right off, you just need to pry them so they aren't clipped onto the rail.

wrap whichever fingers you can around the injectors and wiggle them out. Each injector has 2 o-rings, so verify that when you pull them out, the top o-ring likes to get stuck in the fuel rail, so sometimes I have to use the flathead to pull it out.

use some carb cleaner or something to clean out the injectors, turn key on/off real quick to make sure the line is clear and fuel is coming to each injector slot.

Start over in reverse order till it's all back together!

I would suggest doing it like the guy above said, proper tool and all, you could break an injector and whatnot if you're not careful... but I did it my way multiple times, takes 30 minutes, it's free, and haven't broken a single thing... yet.

The only hard part IMO is getting the injectors to go back in.

Fuel filter is right next to your drivers side rear tire, like literally it's right there, start from the back, get under the car, crawl up to drivers rear tire, and look up.

It's about 3 feet directly back from the oil filter... Which is right next to the drivers side front tire.

Re: Anyone willing to post videos?

don't worry about the pintle caps on the injectors... my motor has eaten two so far this week... the motor will eat any small plastic retainer, pintle cap, or oring so don't get all flustered if you drop one down the intake runner...

and not to be a sales man... i have yellowtop 36lb accels for sale. PM me if interested.

I'm trying to do a complete tune up on the car. So far I have changed the ac compressor, the starter, the alternator, the TPS, the plugs and wires, the water pump, and about to change fuel filter.

Oh, I see. Whoever it was that told you it wasn't worth it to change the injectors was correct. All you need to do is clean them and replace them when/if they fail.....

Re: Anyone willing to post videos?

One thing to keep in mind - the 93 rails, hard lines, fuel pressure regulator and connections are different than all the other years (94-97) of the LT1. Several of the people who gave you advice above hopefully picked up on the fact that you have a 93. We can't tell what they have, because they haven't bothered to set up a "SIGNATURE" showing the year of their car, etc.

SUGGESTION TO EVERYONE - Use the "SIGNATURE" feature. Takes a couple minutes to set it up, and then everyone knows what you drive, doesn't have to guess, etc. NOT ALL YEARS OF THE LT1 engine are the same. bw_hunter seems to be the only person who understands that.
